SUSTAINABILITY
Tora is a wild, rugged and incredibly special place. This coastline gives us so much, so please tread lightly and help us look after it. Leave things better than you found them. Nurture nature, and be nurtured by the coast in return.

KAUPAPA
Tora Bombora is a gathering shaped by environment, sound, and intention.
Born from community and nurtured by the community that surrounds it. Tora Bombora exists to slow time, dissolve ego, and create space for the connection between people, music, whenua, and self. This next chapter is not about becoming bigger, louder, or faster, but about going deeper: building the world more carefully, listening more closely, and holding room for shared moments that linger long after the sun sets. As a new dawn emerges, Tora Bombora returns — grounded, considered, and open to those who feel the call.
The festival site is located on a sensitive environmental zone; we are right on the foreshore, hugged between the coastline and a wetland restoration project. Please be extra conscious of our special place.
It all starts at home. What you bring with you makes a big difference out at the coast. We have a compost pile, use it. Bring plates and clean cups for the food trucks and most importantly, please take all of your waste with you.
LOVE THIS PLACE - LEAVE NO TRACE.

For three days, Tora is your home and playground, so let’s keep this little slice of paradise looking mint. Allowing you to BYO your food and drinks is a privilege. Please do not abuse that fact by leaving your waste at the event.
We have onsite can recycling, however no rubbish bins. This is something that is designed to help make you all conscious consumers, as we are all responsible for our own waste and consumption.
All attendees will be provided with a compostable bag to put your waste in, but it is advised to bring some extra bags for your waste.
A FEW KEY POINTS
-
Leave single-use plastics at home - bring reusable alternatives wherever possible.
-
We ask that you bring only cans, no glass allowed
-
We’ll look after all of your recycling and compost; however, waste must be taken out by yourself.
-
Carpool if you can — fewer cars means less impact and more shared adventures. We have a Tora Bombora rideshare group to help fill empty seats. Button to it here: https://web.facebook.com/share/g/14QRNHjtism/
-
Bring a proper rain jacket, not a poncho — Tora weather can shift quickly, and disposable ponchos become waste.
-
No gazebos — the Tora wind has claimed many casualties over the years. What arrives as a gazebo often leaves as landfill.
-
Bring reusable containers and cups — our food vendors are happy to serve into clean containers and refill cups.
-
Bring a reusable drink bottle — the water out here is magic.
-
Feed the compost — we’ll have compost stations onsite. If it can return to the earth, help us send it back.
Tora Bombora exists because of this place. Help us protect it for summers to come.
