The Tora Coast is home to a tight-knit rural community and a long history of creativity, hospitality, and connection to the land.

Its isolation is part of its magic: no cell service until recently, no crowds, no distractions — just ocean, hills, and horizon. For generations, families in the area have opened their land to walkers, surfers, artists, divers and travellers seeking something real.

Tora Bombora lives within this landscape. The festival embraces the whenua and reflects the spirit of the coast — grounded, welcoming, and shaped by the elements. Every year, the site becomes a temporary village where people gather to celebrate music, art, community, and the simple joy of being together in a place that feels far from the noise of the world.

Tora is located on the South-East Coast of the Wairarapa, two hours from our capital city Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, and the last town is Martinborough, 45 minutes away.​
